Nichirei Foods will launch the "Easy Cook with Tray!" series of one-serving side dishes with trays as a personal use product for a wide range of food service, welfare school lunch programs, and prepared foods. The company intends to provide value that will help eliminate three types of loss: time loss, ingredient loss, and opportunity loss.

Personal-use products refer to staple meals and main dishes in single-serving portions, as well as light meals that can be eaten with one hand. Demand is expected to grow further as teleworking takes root and the number of single-person households, especially single elderly households, increases, and the company invested 5 billion yen in its Yamagata and Nagasaki plants in November 2021. The company aims to achieve sales of 30 billion yen in FY2024 by introducing new products for the spring/summer of 2023, when its production system will be ready.

Personal-use products have two features that solve the problems of food service, welfare food service, and prepared foods in terms of manpower and cooking. The second is the inclusion of a paper tray, which reduces the number of dishes to be washed and reduces the number of emergency freezers. The second is the inclusion of a paper tray, which reduces the amount of dishes to be washed and is convenient as a frozen stockpile in an emergency.

Of the six new products in the "Easy Cook with Tray!" series for spring/summer 2023, the following two products for welfare school meals contain less than 1.0 g of salt per 100 g, making them salt-conscious as well.

The "Aji no Sansyo Shinjo Set" is a Japanese fish-based menu that includes one tray containing one serving of Aji no Sansyo, one tray containing one serving of white fish and tofu Shinjo, and one tray containing one serving of green beans. Aji no san" is a local dish that has been eaten on the Boso Peninsula in Chiba Prefecture for centuries, and is made with Japanese horse mackerel surimi and Japanese vegetables.

The "Abura-gon-chicken set" also includes one tray with one serving of hearty boneless chicken tornado, fried eggplant, and string beans. The sauce for the Aburanon Chicken is soy-sauce based with the flavor of aromatic vegetables and sesame oil, and the salt content has been adjusted. The tasty seasoning supports healthy eating habits.

The company also offers two pasta dishes, "Bolognese (fresh pasta)" and "Mushroom Cream Rigatoni," and two side dishes, "Grilled Cheese Curry (hamburger steak)" and "Grilled Cheese Curry (vegetables)," for restaurants.

The company said of the "Easy Cook with Tray! series, "The products are not only easy to prepare, but also offer a delicious taste with a special attention to aroma and appearance, and by setting multiple ingredients, they can also be used for nutritional balance, mainly for business and welfare food services and hotel business. The company is eager to "solve the problems of the food service and restaurant industries through a variety of useful services.
