Calbee, Inc. (HQ: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Shuji Ito) has launched a new product from the Frugula® Bits series, in which Frugula® is rounded into bite-size pieces, Frugula® Bits Berry Milk Taste (26g, 55g), from 6 March 2023 (Monday) in 18 prefectures in eastern Japan. The product will go on sale in supermarkets and drugstores in 18 prefectures in eastern Japan from 6 March 2023. The sales area will be gradually expanded and the product will be available nationwide by the end of April of the same year. The 26g will also be available in some convenience stores.
Development history.
Fulgura® Bits was developed as a product that can be enjoyed easily anytime, anywhere, while maintaining the nutrition and taste of Fulgura®. In March 2021, the name was changed to Fulgura®Bits in order to make it more familiar to customers. In August 2022, the product was renewed to include a new formula of Shield Lactobacillus®*1 to support good health. The packaging comes in two forms: a pillow-wrapped sachet (26 g) without a zipper, and a large-capacity stand-up pack type (55 g) with a zip. Featuring a cute, round shape that is easy to pick up with the hand and can be eaten in smart, tasty bites, the product is gaining popularity as a product suitable for the snacking scene. Currently, two flavours are available: regular Frugula® Bits and Frugula® Bits Choco-flavoured.
Fulgura® Bits Berry Milk Taste is the third flavour in the Fulgura® Bits range, which offers the mild sweetness of milk and the tartness of berries. The milk-berry-coloured dough is topped with strawberries and raspberries. The packaging was designed with a pink gingham check design, creating a product that tastes and looks cute and fun.
*1 With the keyword "shield-like protection", Morinaga Milk Industry selected this lactic acid bacteria from among several thousand strains in its possession, and it is a bacterium that supports the health power that people possess.
